GHANA INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS

The Institute of Architects was established in 1962, five years after the country gained independence. It is the foremost professional institute in Ghana, and blazed the trail to show that indeed the African is a capable professional, and in the words of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah “capable of managing his own affairs” The Institute has produced some of the world’s finest African architects – in practice, research and academia, and members of the institute have always stood out excellently in their chosen fields of specialty. GIA was a pivotal founding member of the Africa Union of Architects and remains a committed and active member to date.
